Join the Orchid Society of Coral Gables as we welcome Dr. Juraj Kojš, an accredited American Orchid Society Judge, accomplished orchid grower and passionate collector, for a special presentation on “Developing an Orchid Collection.”

Dr. Kojš will share practical guidance for creating an orchid collection that reflects your individual interests while also taking into consideration the growing conditions and microclimates found here in South Florida. His presentation will explore how growers can make thoughtful choices when selecting orchids, balancing personal preferences with available light, temperature, humidity, space and the individual cultural requirements of different plants.

Dr. Kojš brings extensive experience to the orchid community. He has received more than 60 awards from the American Orchid Society, served as President of the Coalition for Orchid Species, has been active with the Miami Beach Orchid Society, and chaired the inaugural Orchids & Arts Festival at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden in 2024. He is also a contributing orchid author whose work has appeared in the American Orchid Society's Orchids magazine.

Beyond orchids, Dr. Kojš is an Associate Professor of Professional Practice at the University of Miami's Frost School of Music, where his work combines music, technology, science and the natural world. He created the innovative Orchid Music / Orchid DNA Music project, which transforms DNA sequences from Florida native orchids into music, bringing together his two passions in a truly unique way.
